I don't understand enough about wire fed welding systems to know what the
upside/downside of this would be. I wonder if it would destroy the material
being built up. I'm sure that even with a real glue gun the problem would
be that the part being added to might melt from the additional material.

This is very interesting.
Why not to put a wire feed welder in place of a glue gun and print metal
parts this way?
