Hi Todd

I had the same idea about 8 years ago. I had a cintimatic mill with
hydraulic servos and a bad control. I retrofitted a PC using CNCPro and a
motion board with Galil chips. Spent a couple days building the electronic
interface and installing encoders and then watching the table try to leap
off the ways!! I scrapped that idea and installed dc servo amps and motors
and it's been making chips ever since.

There's a good reason why you seldom see a hydraulic servo on a machine tool
any more. They were plagued with many problems. Of course, this is just
my 2 cents worth.
