You may be able to save yourself some time by just mounting
the small dremel like tool where the pen was. Some of the
old 'boat anchor' centronics printers look like they could support
some of the small grinders and have enough power to work in
soft wood and plastics. These old printers had the drivers
for the motors separate so it may be possible to use some of
the kit stepper motor drivers to drive the motors thru these
transistors.
I am having enough trouble trying to get a HP Draftmaster Plotter
to Plot. It will do the demo program, I think I have located some
pens that I can afford. I have some manuals and have ordered
the package from Jim Dove that should help getting it hooked to
the computer. $5dollarsoftware has some graphics packages
that are ordered. Then I think I need a HPGL/GL2 driver.
Then comes the real sticker. The details of making all this work
together. I mean real details, press this button, then push that
button, decided whether you want x or y and push this key.
I get all this stuff hooked up and the lights come on and the motors
whir.
THE BIG QUESTION IS WHAT DO I PUSH NOW?

I sure hope so! That's what I'm planning on doing here...

I'd guess that it would be okay with a smaller machine. Most of the
folks I see talking in these lists are working with bigger motors,
but also with bigger machines.

I got into this stuff in the first place because I was searching for
various electronics stuff out there on the web and happened to notice
a bit of stepper motor stuff here and there. And thinking that it
would be good to be able to use some of the motors I have in a box
here... :-)
