Pinters can be a great source of parts for smallish / starter CNC machines.

Many of the early DEC (Digital Equipment Corp) printers, LA series had great
DC servo motors
+ they also had optical shaft encoders.

Another goodie in older style printers is the ball nut and screw assembly
which
traversed the head across the paper.

Oh - and dont' forget the power supply !

I sure hope so! That's what I'm planning on doing here...

I'd guess that it would be okay with a smaller machine. Most of the folks I
see talking in these lists are working with bigger motors, but also with
bigger machines.

I got into this stuff in the first place because I was searching for various
electronics stuff out there on the web and happened to notice a bit of
stepper motor stuff here and there. And thinking that it would be good to
be
able to use some of the motors I have in a box here... :-)
