I'm thinking that eitehr we are being hard on a novice or the
question was not phrased correctly.

Most of us know that thread pitch is often in inches so a 1/2-13 is
thirteen threads per inch. And that it would take 13 rotations to
get a travel of one inch.

Also, a 3/4 by 0.5 is not your common leadscrew. It is probably a
multi start like 4 starts or something. Again something a novice
might just not understand out of the gate.

In that case it would be a 3/4-8 with 4 starts.
