Hi Jon,
As several people have mentioned, brushless motors have a lot of
advantages over brush motors. If you are buying from EBay beware. Very
often a brushless motor will only work with that manufacturer's drive.
If you buy a cheap motor you may end up having to buy a very expensive
drive to run it.
Brush motors are much more generic. As long as the ratings are roughly
compatible you can use pretty much any brush motor with pretty much any
drive.
