I cut mine down in the lathe, with carbide tooling. It ate one tip per
screw
end, which was not too bad. Once in past the hardening, it cut well
with the
carbide. Then, I finished it up with a toolpost grinder and it looked
totally
professional! I had little difficulty threading the turned-down end of the
screw, either.
