Hi Dennis
I am assuming that your spindle is three phase. A few years back I had an
idea to use an automobile alternator (less the diode bridge) to generate the
power for a high speed spindle. I was going to drive it with a variable
speed DC drive and motor which should give the spindle variable speed. I
ran some tests with the alternator driven by the spindle on one of my mills.
As I recall the frequency was working out fine but the voltage, which would
be regulated by alternator field current, was short of the 160 volt that I
needed. This would not be the case for your application. I realize it's
not as clean a solution as a solid state high frequency inverter, but it
would be inexpensive.
What are the specs on the Kavo type 4444 inverter that you have? Thanks
Regards,
Bob
