The switching frequencies are fairly low. The best bet is to look
at patents online, they give a good idea of the basics. Don't
however get sucked into thinking you will need all singing and
dancing feedback mechanisms. If you build a switching type supply
rather than a RC relaxation type machine then your cutting speed is
more likely to be limited by the flushing and even wire tensioning.
For some EDM basics you can download this old russian text that I
scanned in (translated). It mainly talks about relaxation type
machines but does cover many things that help.
