Go to /usr/local/emc/ directory, and use the command './emc.run'.
Debug error messages will show in the terminal window. You can adjust the
type of debug messages displayed via TkEmc->Settings->Debug, or the emc.ini
file.
'Verify' requires the machine to be in the on state (TkEMC should show
'machine on'), incidentally.
Make sure you have either '%' marks by themselves on a line at the start and
finish, or an M2 at the end of your program.
