PC Interface with Anilam Crusader Series-M

A friend has a Brideport with this Anilam 2 axis setup. It is
programable from the console. There is a RS232C port in the
Console -- looks like a printer port to me.

What sort of hardware and software set up would we use to program
this machine with a PC? I have the manuals so understanding the
communications may be possible. It looks like it works on a batch
basis. The manual talks about RS274-D format with N numbers, G
codes, etc.

What I am hoping for is a list or two of possible configurations to
use with this machine.
