Brady:

I run API CMD-260 drives (pretty similar to the Geckos for the
purposes of this conversation). I'm using the original NEMA 42's at
half winding. I built the power supply (67 volts DC) and I think I'm
running the drives at 4 or 5 amps if I remember right. This
Bridgeport "can" run scary fast (I won't bore you with the specs
because the original dovetail table has been replaced with one on
linear rails, so iuts kinda unique), but I've slowed it down to about
80 ipm. I run MACH2.

The NEMA 42's are fine, the Geckos should be fine. Given the
relativly low cost of a new power supply (I was able to salvage the
transformer, bridge and capacitors from the original NC setup, but it
may differ in your case) compared to the cost of Gecko smoke, I'd be
tempted to chuck (and/or canibalize) the existing supply and build a
new one. My understanding is that, while the original power supply
ran at a higher voltage, the way the Geckos work, a lower voltage
power supply should give you adequite performance.
