Understand, but if we are home-testing aren't we testing for a
machine that will have to move the mass anyway ?

I found that on my machine I could run my steppers verrrry slow to
get past a dirty screw on a project. cleaned up the junk and I'm
back up to speed.

But, since many tests are to see where the motor starts to miss
steppps, this would be a simple home-brew way.

For most settings, it is only an inch or so for the ramp to be
complete.
