Re: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] G-code to DXF converter

Hi Dave,

I suspect you are saying that you will move the table, and log the Gcode
produced. If you have that, then you can import the Gcode to a CAD/CAM
program, and backplot. Backplotting gets you into the CAD program, and
from there you can save as a DXF file.

Problem is, 3D cad programs, unless they have special 4th axis/rotary
table provisions, all you'll get is a set of points on a line. Believe
me, I've tried it. I don't know of a way to "visualize" rotary table
movements in a 3D drawing, does anyone? I can draw 2D and 3D on the
computer's screen, but what to do with a rotary table??

Rotary table code is not all that hard to write, I've written Gcode by
hand to turn the contours of my steam engine cylinders. Pix on the
SherlineCNC list under "KM6VV engines".

If you're looking to do something different, then please expand your
description, I'd like to discuss this.
