still not working, but I made a few changes I think in the right direction....
launched turboCNC in full dos, installed a true +5vdc powersupply to feed the "common", term
measured the step/dir terminals directly (not connected to printer port), measured +5vdc across all 6 terminals
when printer port cable connected, step/dir terminals drop to ~.5vdc
I can no longer turn the leadscrew by hand, which I believe is a good thing.
term 7 is +5vdc
