EMC Newbie

I've consorted with the subject just long enough to know that the
users of this software are members of a secret society, knights of a
computer, electronics, machine cult that although benevolent, prefers
to dole out information in tiny, partially discernable dollops.

After immeasurable amounts of help from Tim Goldstein, for which I am
very thankful, I have a computer running Linux Redhat 5.2 and an
installation of EMC customized to run my Shoptask 3-in-1 Machine.
(Thanks again Tim) (He's been so much help I feel I should bow).

I have a Vector for drawing and creating "G" code.

Steppers are already mounted on my Machine, and I have completed
building circuit boards from Camtronics (Dan Mauch), and am awaiting
a
power
supply, case and misc, to complete the driver piece of the setup.
Hopefully by this time next week I'll be running EMC on my little
machine!

I am the happiest guy in the world: well almost. I'd really like to
know more about EMC than I can find at any website that I know of. If
it's on this one, please point me. Not the deep down secrets, I
wouldn't understand. I'd like to understand every entry in the .ini
files, how to set up a rotary axis, what "Home" really means, etc.
Surely there is a document, that I can beg, borrow, steal, buy, or
best of all, download that gives the basic operating instructions for
EMC.

I understand creating and entering "G" code, but I don't know the
simpler things, like turning a cylinder on the lathe using the
buttons
on EMC rather than turning handles.

Hope you all, (Y'all), can haelp.
Jerry
