No, there is a group of retrofitters that have to have the fastest machine
around. Put a really big motor on a bridgeport and command it to accelerate
in 1/2 second to 600 IPM and the machine will be laying on its side!
These are the same guys who put a 427 Cu In V8 in a VW beetle
when they were kids.

You'd be a LOT better off with these motors and a good servo drive than with
yet another crummy stepper setup.
