Years ago I worked in the film industry in the Metro Detroit area,
(Victor Duncan) And was fasinated by motion control. I had designed
(on paper) a Titanium tube camera crane system, but was never able to
come up with the funds to build it. Anyway, the control system was
going to be from Kuper control (http://www.kupercontrols.com/). The
cool thing that I liked was that it also ran the camera as well as
the crane/dolly. It would speed the camera up (slow motion)or slow it
down (keystone cops)AND would actually change the cycle speed to make
sure the shutter exposure would remain constant. Anyway, it's just a
big cnc anyway ya look at it... Good luck, and post pics if ya build
