Well, look at it this way. A decent power supply costs out at 50
cents a watt. A 1HP peak motor would require a 1kW power supply @
$500. If the motor is 48 VDC rated, then 38 cells @ $76 would be
needed. Figuring an average power of 1/4 HP, a 250 Watt supply @ $125
plus $76 for the battery would make it $200 total, for a savings of
$300.
