minor caution here- dont assume to much about reliabily of motion in
this mode- steppers with no load on the shaft often dont keep in step. I
did this with just a tape flag on the shaft so I could see it move, and
it was sometimes misleading.

You are correct, Ability (INDEXER.LPT) is just a driver and has it own
command language, not gcode. Its also a $350 package.
