Thats probably it.. I do have an electrical noise problem that I havent corrected..This is single ended encoder .Did wire in the couple resistors per the instructions that came with my Rutex drives...But grounding the cable sheild of that encoder sends the motor into vigorous oscillations..Even separating that encoder cable from every current carrying wire in the control box hasnt solved that one..Except for gaining a few steps , this encoder , not having it's shield grounded works quite well.......No ground loops anywhere, using star ground......I wonder if these single ended US Digital encoders need the resistors?...

Gained pulses is nearly always associated with electrical noise. Are
you using differential encoders or single ended? Have you properly
sheilded the encoder wires. Are you running the high volt motor wires
parallel and in close proximity to the encoder wires. Do you have the
high volt motor wires running overtop of the servo amp?
