that looks horrible!!!
and the trace shows those spikes are upfucking the
output badly.
i can see how dirt could very likely be the culprit,
as suggested. cuz they spikes appear very clean to be
electrical noise.
if you log an entire revolution and the spikes appear
in the same places - it's optical almost certainly.
