The orac's where originally self contained but with an RS232 interface
and a data tape transfer unit along with (intended for tutorial tapes) a
surprisingly good tape sound system (Music while you work).

Off-line programming being done by Denford software running on
BBC Computers. This software was contained in a plug-in cartridge
that required the original BBC 1. computers to be modified. The BBC II
had this cartridge slot as standard.

Once the G-Code had been compiled it could be transferred via the
RS 232 interface or via a data tape.

Licom's AlphaCAM CADCAM software (Turn Module) still has the orac
Post Processor as one of it's many standard machine posts.
