I think we agree on your evaluation.

However, I think the whole principal of the resistor/capacitor
discharge is old school and does not gear up for larger power supplies
or faster cutting.

I think the real next phase is more electronics and more actual
control over the spark, (Warp Drive an not Impuse engines) not just a
larger transformer.

And Langolis (or Flemming) does not even borach the subject of
dilithum crystals !
