They are VERY expensive. I think they run about $260
in small quantity. You still have to provide a lot of stuff
outside the 'chip' (really a hybrid) such as filtering, current
sensing, overload protection, a PC board, heat sink, etc.
You can buy complete amplifiers from Copley Controls
for what these chips cost. I think Apex is selling these
things for NASA and Air Force projects (they will
pay more for space- and Mil-certified parts).
