Hi Jarrett,

Unipolar wound steppers are often called 4-phase. Bi-polar wound steppers
are called 2-phase.

Series/parallel only applies to bi-polar, you have no choice in uni-polar.

4 wire units are always bi-polar. 5 wire units are always uni-polar
(because the ct's of the coils are connected together). 6 and 8 wire
steppers can be connected either way.

Don't worry about the dielectric! You can wire your 8's either way!
