Hi Patrick,
Power supply delivering enough amperage for all the motors being used? I've been down this road with unipolar Superior steppers on a Bridgeport, the performance was dismal to say the least. Wound up going to DC brush Servos and Gecko320's and it made a world of difference.
From all that I've read it seems that steppers are better suited to light machines. It appears they are actually better in some instances i.e. direct drive, light tool loading etc. Heavy iron requires a system that can draw more amperage when needed to overcome a load like servos do, they will fry themselves or a drive trying to get the job done if the current is available. Steppers won't do that. They just lose steps until feedrates and/or tool-load is adjusted to the available torque.
If you do some "googling", there was a graph that compared servos to steppers a while back and the difference is very significant. I've looked for that lately and can't find it.
I would definitely do some research and troubleshooting before changing motor systems. Some folks use steppers on Bridgeports and heavier machines and have found a combination that works for them. Microstepping can actually sacrifice stepper torque as well. Although, not using it decreases resolution and sacrifices smoother motion. It's a trade-off.

Hello:
I have a sound logic board that is conected to Gecko 212s being run

I've managed to get the axies moving. The motors are a little anemic,
I'm wondering if there's another way to wire the motors or configure
Mach2 to get more power from the motors. I'm running the superior
stepper motors at 56 volts in a parallel wiring config. any ideas would
be great.
Thanks
