If you plan on using a Gecko drive, Mariss says that they have a
current limit to encoder of 50 mA. Most of the encoders I looked at
take more than that. I ended up getting an US Digital E5Sxxxxxxx. You
have to determine the encoder shaft diameter. The ones I got were 1/4"
and had 500 lines/R. I think they were $54 each, plus $5 for an
alignment tool plus $4 each for connectors. Give them a call and they
can walk you through the encoder selection process.
