One drive per motor, if you connect 2 motors to one drive you will end up with
the back EMF causing resonance problems which result in driving instability.
Put another ways; a driver can't dampen EMF infinitely fast, so you get ringing
as one motor changes speed faster than the other which then back drives the
other motor and so on and so on.

On a gantry router, or plasma, if I decide to go with a dual drive
system instead of single drive motor with a drive shaft. Do I need a
Gecko for each motor? or can one Gecko power two identical motors that
need to run in identical step and directions anyway? I am thinking
somewhere around two 400 Oz steppers.
