Re: G rex question

Graham,

The lack of 'salesmanship' is sort of intentional; I'm certainly not
shy about promoting the living daylights out of hardware I've
designed. The G201 was first introduced on this very group 6 years
ago.:-) I have a deep sense of gratitude to the people here, CCED and
Bill Anlicker for the acceptance it gained.

The G-Rex is a complicated and tricky product to market fairly just
now. The hardware had to be designed first before the firmware could
be developed. Before the firmware could be developed, people in the
position to lend their considerable talents had to be shown the G-Rex
is worth it and their efforts would be worth the time.

This has taken 4 years; it was called the 'G2002' originally and it
is 2006 now.

The G-Rex is probably the best thing I've ever had the privilege to
to come up with; I have passionately believed in its potential from
the beginning. Steve Hardy has to be singled out as one who saw its
potential and thru his expertise added vital features I hadn't even
imagined. His contribution to this project was and is beyond measure.
Art Fennery as well because he chose to invest his more than
considerable talents to make the G-Rex viable.

It has been a long time in the making and I'm in no rush to
prematurely hurry the project to its conclusion. That will best
happen at its own pace.

It would be improper to beat the advertising drums and generate
demand before the attendant firmware/software is done. It would be
unfair to the potential users and it would put unecessary pressure on
the developers to rush their work. No one would be happy.

I do promise you this: It will be spectacular and unlike anything you
have ever seen when the G-Rex firmware reaches its hardware design
goals. True closed-loop PID servo control of step motors using
anyone's step motor drive just for one; they'll be 50-pole AC
servomotors then.:-)

Give it a few months. An awful lot of work by many talented people is
going into it right now.

Mariss
