Maxnc - buy it with the proper documentation only

Hi, Group
To all who have been helping me with the Maxnc problem, and Doug Yeager
for your help on the ramping, we figured out the Maxnc "problem". The
instructions should clearly state that in the BIOS set up, make sure
your parallel port is set to bi-directional mode, ECP, not enhanced, or
EPP! While this may seem obvious to anyone who has worked on these
things before, it was not obvious to me. EVERY piece of documentation
for every DOS based controller should address the port set up in the
BIOS. For older motherboards this might not be particularly relevant.
However, as we all begin to "upgrade" to newer computers in the shop,
computers that were old windows machines, the old setups are inherited.
The old setup for windows printing is the wrong setup for DOS control,
or so it seems.
BTW, I am working on an additional board to add into my case to do
limit switches and all windings off. I am going to use logic level FETs
through a Pic Chip control for the relays, unless someone has a better
idea. I am using one of Dan Mauch's older 5A boards without this
capability, so after the router damn near ran away with me, I thought
that I had better add limits (using the cool proximity sensors that Bob
Campbell showed me) and all windings off since the motors get pretty hot
just sitting there in the Texas sun. If anyone knows of a prepackaged
add-on board for a reasonable price let me know, otherwise any kibitzing
would be appreciated.
Anyway, thanks to all.
