Dave,
I still have on my website the software and information on how to
setup rotary encoders, the interface to a parallel port for a DRO
based on D. Linsely's homebrew project. You can find the link in my tag line.
This has been sucessfully setup on both a mill/drill (3 axis) and
lathe (2 axis). The software is dos based, but also includes the
source if you want to modify.
