Hi, having worked some of these "Swiss" machines, one of the reasons you do
not see many is when a new machine replaced the old one for many years the
mfg gave
generous trade ins, the rebuilt machines sold to overseas
customers....second my friend has 2 bar feed swiss with automatic chip and
part cleaners. once set up they run for weeks slowly and steadily making
parts as long as some one keeps the bar feeder full of stock. one ran for 5
years making brass nuts for lamps non stop, even when the shop was closed
those 2 machines were loaded and running making parts 24/7. a good swiss
machine is rugged where it needs to be, slow and delibrate but can make high
tolerance parts without beating the tooling to death. cul brian f.
