Well, no doubt there are lathes out there that can do all sorts of
wonderful turning and milling - they have been around for a long
time. But a machine that can replicate itself, well, good luck with
that. Getting a completely machined part out of a CNC lathe is
pretty basic and common by today's standards.

Be sure to have your great, great, great, great, great, great,
grandchildren look up mine and tell them what a fool I was for not
thinking it would happen sooner rather than later ;-)

BTW, that 60 mile journey for a car isn't even close to the
complexity of a self replicating machine. Hell, we have
sent "robots" out into our solar system for nearly a half century
already!

Either way, keep on dreaming about it. After all, according to the
history channel, Star Trek and William Shattner "create" the world
we live in now ;-)
