Look at chronos on the web for bits & pieces you may need.
Mostly tooling, dti, etc.

Aluminum is very doable, but build your frame stiff and heavy ! You wont
regret it.
I would recommend 3:1 to 5:1 timing belts, steppers, and rolled ballscrews.
Accuracy and increased torque gives you repeatability which is what you
really want.
Your precicions needs may be +/-0.03 but you should be able to get
around 0.02 mm repeatability or better.

(I am building a mill ... over 600 kg ... )
