Can I ask what sort of price they charged.
I have seen quotes to regrind Bridgeport ones at £400 to £800
Always seemed a hell of a lot of money
Always been lucky and had good screws on everything Ive aquired.

That's good to check. I agree, with .008" of play, the thrust bearing(s)
are almost certainly bad.
If you do need your ball screw reground, I've sent 4 ball screw assemblies
from my Fadal mills to Express Ball Screw Repair
(http://www.expressb <http://www.expressballscrewrepair.com>
allscrewrepair.com), and had good results. You might
want to give them a try. It's not an inexpensive process, but much less
expensive than buying new ball screws (at least for the Fadal mills).

I forgot to check the angular contact bearing when I had it apart. I
will check that Monday.
