I found a box yesterday that seems to be just what I need.
Its called PPIO from B&B Electronics. http://bb-elect.com
Its a little box about 2x3 in, with a db25 connector on one edge and a
screw terminal block on top. each output can handle up to 50v and 500ma.
Each input can be 0 to 50v. There are LEDs on each line.
It looks like the inputs come through ULN2803A buffers, The output
drivers are MC14848 (or maybe MC1484B) It only supports 8 bits, and the
port must operate in 'normal' mode not one of the extended modes.
The box is $99.95. Ive ordered one, they say it will ship on 7/24.
