I just got back to this motor. a 1.5v battery on the common will
cause a step if any other wire is connected.

it appears that some combinations will move more than others.

By chance I was able to move the motor so each wire in turn would have
the motor step all in the same direction.

I assume that if I can have 4 steps, each moving the motor in the same
direction, that the wire sequence is correct ?
