I think that you feel that there are more complaints about the Gecko's
because they are probably 10 times more popular. So a lot more
people to complain. At least with Gecko you can get the owner/designer
to give you tech support.
Ask Brian Barker on the Mach forum. He has used several high end
drives including the Tek drives.
