CAUTION, don't put a fuse in the neutral line, this is a dangerous practice.

Use a proper three wire cord, tie the green wire to the metal case that
everything is installed in, fuse the black (hot) wire, don't fuse the white
wire. Also a power switch should be installed in the black wire, if a single
pole switch is installed. If you install a double pole switch, you can break
both the black and white wires.
Be sure that the heat sinks if tied to the chassis frame, are insulated from
any circuit devices mounted on them, there are regular insulating kits
available for this purpose. Also a bit of heat sink grease between the
electronic device and the heat sink will help keep things cooler, this is in
addition to the insulators. Most of this should be available from Radio
Shack.
