Henrik,

A few of the spindle mfrs. have cutaway drawings on their websites.
I agree; when i went looking for this it IS hard to find. But i DO
remember seeing some cutaway drawings... (I wasn't looking for a
specific industry standard; just the genearl way it was done.

On THAt note; here are a couple resources:
