_____
The Variable Bleed Solenoids used in some automatic transmissions are
essentially a PWM proportional valve. These fit in a transmission valve body
cavity. The ECM puts out a PWM pulse train to the VBS coil. As the pulses
are on a larger percentage of the time the valve changes its orifice opening
and thus the pressure drop. This can be used to control transmission shift
points.
[maxnc15]I've hired an electronics man in Russia to produce an S-Curve
controller for a hydraulic robot project. He says PWM (Pulse Width
Modulation) is much more efficient than DAC (Digital to Analog Control)
[Aaron] Perhaps he is using PWM plus some filtering to make a poor man's
DAC?
