No, you don't put the rats through a blender to get a better liquid,
it's far more scientific than that:

Roland DG's lovely PIX-4 and PIX-30 single needle probe scanners were
always impressive (now discontinued) and they have (internally)
announced the death sentences for MDX-15/20 which also had that needle
probe scanner.
So all you DIY 3D scanner afficionados, better start collecting all
the rats running around your workshop, to make a whisker array 3D
scanner.
