Maybe the HB 25 ,Parallax product, pwm input, 6 to 16 volts, 25 amps
continuous may be worth a look for you. PWM signal is held until
updated from MCU.
I also mentor a FIRST team; FRC and VEX. I used HB25's with my
personal VEX project.
