Mike,
I have a 13/40 as well, Gear head. Found this company that has a CNC conversion for our Lathes. Compared to a full on Slant bed, or other similar CNC machines, might be something to consider.
Here is their link. http://www.microkinetics.com/ The 13/40 conversion is not listed, but I have contated them in regards to the kit. Price with threading is 5295.00 not including shipping.
Hope that helps,
Smitty

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Conversion/retrofit of lathe to CNC

Hello,

We just recently purchased a Jet 1340A belt drive lathe (13x40). We
would like to retrofit it so that it can be controlled with CNC using
stepper motors. Has anyone ever done this for this lathe? Or for any
other lathe in general?

Please let me know.
Thanks

Mike McWhinney
