DOS does not have networking built in. You would need to add
something on and it might cause interrupts at "bad" times causing
stutter or missed steps.

Linux with RTAI (the real time application interface) might be a better choice.

But by all means try the DOS setup if you have networking software
for it. Novell and Lantastic worked pretty well as did Micro$oft
Workgroups for Windows, but I never checked the interrupt latency issues.
