It seems that the BDI is a mostly unsupported version of EMC these
days. The version that's still being actively developed is EMC2, and is
available at <http://www.linuxcnc.org/>. I don't see any posts from you
on the user or developer lists at sourceforge:
emc-users@...
emc-developers@...

It's much easier to use kinematics in EMC2 than it was in EMC1 (which
the BDI is based on). Once you have the system installed (use the
liveCD from linuxcnc.org), you need to install the developer tools as
described here:
