Heh - not enough hours in the day, are there? ;)

Kinematics are for everything. You can still move the machine joint by
joint, which is necessary for homing. Once the machine is homed (and
only after it's homed), you can use normal G-code to move the tooltip in
cartesian space. You can also jog in "teleop mode", which is cartesian
jogging instead of joint jogging (I think - I often get the names of the
modes confused though)

The nice thing about the liveCD is that you don't have to install it -
just boot from CD and run. It's a fully funcional realtime system with
EMC2 installed, and you can even make changes to the configs - they just
won't be saved across reboots (unless you copy them to a USB key or
something).
