I did this a while ago, I came up with the idea because I wanted to
create a laser cutter with very low intertia, I didn't post any info
about this specific machine because I thought there might be
commercial potential. Of course it turned out to be a reinvention as
most things are and even combining it with a laser has been done or at
least appears in a diagram in a paper. So here it is:

It is just a simple test rig made from some printer parts holding a
pen. There is another video showing a close up.
