Hanermo,
Steppers are fine so must be the board. It is the A axis. I'll have to contact Mechatronics and see what they say. Any insight appreciated. From now on I will test the steppers on the board before installing them!

Great progress !
You have isolated the prob to the a axis chain ie drive/motor/ wiring etc.
BTW - Thus it is not the pfd !
Steppers very rarely are bad or go bad.
Cabling, connectors etc...
Swap x and a ... whats the result ?
